This past Tuesday, Dan's Grandmother passed away. She was 97! She was cantankerous at times but well loved. She had lived through the Great Depression, worked in the cotton mill starting at age 11, lost a young child (Dan's Mom's baby sister) and lost her husband a long time ago (30 years or longer). I didn't see her smile much, except when talking to her grandkids, or the one time we went fishing. I was pregnant with Autumn so wow, it was 9-1/2 to 10 years ago. Granny loved fishing and used to go quite a bit, but with her failing health, and not being able to drive, she didn't get to go very often her last 15 years or so.
She told me a few years or more ago that she was ready to go. It makes it easier to let someone go when they've lived their life for so many years and they are ready to go.
My prayers are with my Mom in Law Betty who has been caring for Granny for the last 15 years. She will be lost with out her for a while, but hopefully will get back out living life soon. She used to be really active in her church and enjoys being with people and has gladly sacrificed all that to take care of her Mom.
So long for now Granny, we love you!

I agree, when they seem tired and ready it's a little easier on everyone, but still sad to lose a loved one. Big hugs!!
